Ann Coulter's ”rehab-remark”
Ann Coulter gives us yet another example of why we progressives don't like Republicans. On the other hand, this is great news:
”A majority of Americans say the federal government should guarantee health insurance to every American, especially children, and are willing to pay higher taxes to do it, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.”

Now I am off to give a speech at the famous ”Stureakademin”, and the topic is (as always) why they are wrong and why I am right (i.e. why liberalism as an ideology is insufficient and why social democracy is better). Always a good discussion and loads of fun.

Unfortunately, with the current ideological/political climate in Washington, and the dogged inability of federal Democrats to think "big", this political opportunity is likely to be squandered.
It's a bizzarre feature of American politics that even when there is a clear majority for a common sense progressive policy change, it doesn't happen.
My learned prediction is that we continue to make peicemeal reforms to the health care system, and continue to pay more for less coverage than the rest of the developed world.
